The Climate Reality Project’s mission is to catalyse a global solution to the climate crisis.
About our branch - Australia and the Pacific
Founded and chaired by former Vice President Al Gore, The Climate Reality Project empowers everyday people to lead on climate, equipping them with the training and tools to educate others about climate and drive change. The local branch of the Climate Reality Project - Australia and the Pacific is hosted by the University of Melbourne.
The branch focuses on supporting trained Climate Reality Leaders in our region. Since 2006, more than 2000 people from Australia and the Pacific have been trained as Climate Reality Leaders, helping drive greater public awareness of climate challenges and solutions. Along with its commitment to public outreach and education, the branch works with state and local governments and the business sector to help them make increasingly ambitious commitments to climate action.
In essence, The Climate Reality Project - Australia and the Pacific works to turn the growing awareness of the danger of climate change into support for climate action across our region. With those in the Pacific knowing all too well what it means to live with the impacts of climate change, and Australia's bushfires and heatwaves making headlines across the planet, the urgency of this work in our region has never been clearer.
