Grant Blashki is currently an Associate Professor at the Nossal Institute for Global Health, University of Melbourne, and Honorary Professor at Shenzhen Luohu Hospital Group in China. His three themes of research are 1)) Global Health 2) Environmental Health and 3) Mental Health. He has co-authored over 100 peer reviewed publications and 4 books and leads the masters subject “Environmental Challenges and Global Health” at the University of Melbourne.
Dr Blashki is the Lead Clinical Advisor for BeyondBlue, where he works closely with the media team on communicating about depression, anxiety and suicide risk, and provides a clinical perspective on the organisation’s many activities. Previous roles include Chair of the Environmental Working Party of the World Organisation of Family Doctors, Board Director of the Australian Conservation Foundation, Clinical Advisor to beyondblue, Mentor in the Al Gore Climate Leadership Project, Cofounder of Doctors for the Environment Australia, and Member of the Strategic Advisory Group of the Climate Institute. Awards include the Fundraisers Institute of Australia’s Major Grants Award, the Australian Evaluation Society Award for Excellence in Evaluation, and the Monash University Silver Jubilee Prize for Teaching. Grant very much enjoys practicing as a GP in St Kilda in Melbourne and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. He visits China regularly to train Chinese GPs. He is also a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and of the Asia Link Leadership program.
